Ecuador, that owes her name to the equator that runs right through the country, has a flat coastal area where it is warm (40 °C) and humid in the north. The rainy season runs from January to May. The south coast is a lot drier. The Andes run through the middle of the country, from north to south. The cities in the Andes are generally pleasant, and have a spring-like climate. The east of Ecuador has a tropical climate and is located in the Amazon region. Ecuador is best to visit from June to October.
