The climate in Iraq
In addition to the political climate, the atmospheric climate in Iraq is not ideal to live in. The majority of the country is located in the Syrian desert and thus has a desert climate. In the summer it is hot: in July and August, it is more than 35 °C during the day. Winters in low-lying areas, where amongst other places Baghdad can be found, are fairly mild with daytime temperatures around 10 °C. In the northern mountain region it can sometimes be very cold in winter with heavy snowfall.
