The climate in Ireland
The sun is not a regular visitor to Ireland, which has a moderate oceanic climate. However, there is an abundance of wind. The north-west coast is even the windiest place in Europe. On the west coast it is often cloudy and it rains regularly. The south coast, near Cork, has a lot of fog days. The sunniest months are May and June. The sun shines the most in the south-east. The wettest months are December and January. The temperature in winter is around 8 °C. In summer, inland has a daytime average of 20 °C.
