The climate in Croatia
Croatia is a sunny country with different climates. The Adriatic coastal area, with the towns of Dubrovnik and Split and the popular holiday region of Istria, has a Mediterranean climate. The summers are sunny, dry and warm (26 °C). Winters are mild but wet. Heading inland it quickly becomes mountainous. In August in the mountains it is pleasantly cool (18 °C). In winter there is light frost and snow. There is also skiing albeit on a modest scale. The Interior has a continental climate. The summers are dry and warm (24 °C). In winter it is cold and wet and it’s better to bypass the area if possible.
