Barbecue weather rating explained

The barbecue weather rating is an objective evaluation of barbecue weather conditions. The calculation takes into account weather conditions that are especially important for a successful barbecue.

The barbecue weather rating is calculated in Dutch summer time between 17.00 and 20.00 (15.00-18.00 GMT).

The standard score is 10. Points are deducted when weather conditions negatively influence this. The minimum score is 1. The following weather conditions are included when calculating the barbecue weather rating:

  • Precipitation
  • Wind strength
  • Sunshine hours
  • Fog and mist
  • Temperature
  • Risk of thunderstorms

The risk of thunderstorms, the amount of precipitation and the temperature have all been given added value in the calculation of the barbecue weather rating.
