The climate in Senegal
Senegal, with its capital Dakar as the westernmost city of Africa, has a transitional climate. The area north of Dakar, is influenced by the Sahara and is very dry. The rainy season in this grass savannah area, runs from July to September and is just long enough for peanut cultivation. It is hot, nearly 40 °C in October and November and more than 40 °C in March to June. Heading south and along the coast, the climate gets wetter and less hot. In the far south-west is rainforest. The best travel time is December to February.
