The climate in Sao Tome and Principe
The islands of São Tomé and Príncipe, a former Portuguese and Dutch colony, are located off the west African coast in the Gulf of Guinea. The largest island is São Tomé, surprisingly enough since the smaller is called Príncipe. The archipelago is located just north of the equator and has thus, a tropical climate. The temperature is around 28 °C throughout the year. The rainy season runs from October to May. However, most rain falls at night. The greatest chance of encountering downpours in daylight is in the months of March and April. The islands are volcanic and very lush.
