The climate in Niger
For a large part, Niger consists of sand. The Sahara and the Sahel cover two-thirds of the country. In the south the landscape is comprised of savannah. The climate there is tropical, meaning that there is rainfall. The rainy season runs from June to September. This is also the 'cold ' period, with temperatures between 30 and 35 °C. In the south of Niger there are two hot periods. The first runs from September to November. The hottest is however in the months of March to June with an average of 40 °C. In the desert areas it is 40 °C or more from April through to October. In short, visit Niger between November to March.
