The climate in Botswana
The climate in Botswana, which shares its southern border with South Africa, is subtropical. The west and south of the country are driest. This is also home to the Kalahari desert. The north is greener and wetter. Here there is approximately 650 mm of rain per year. The rainy season runs from December to April. This is also the summertime, which can be very hot: with temperatures often reaching 40 °C. The winter is dry and relatively cool. The average daytime temperature then is 22 °C. It may even freeze at night. The best travel period is from April to November.
